This week at Six Blades Jiu Jitsu La Quinta, we pulled off something special. During what she thought was a regular class with a guest instructor, Aymee Xavier—fresh off a double gold performance at a regional competition—was surprised with a well-earned promotion to brown belt.
But this belt wasn’t given for medals alone.
Aymee’s martial arts journey began in Brazil and led her to the heart of the La Quinta Jiu Jitsu community. And while her technique is razor sharp, her promotion represents something deeper—something that transcends the competition mats.
She lives the life of a martial artist.
At Six Blades Jiu Jitsu, we’re guided by four core pillars:
Fitness, Self-Defense, Emotional Intelligence, and Moral Understanding.
Aymee exemplifies each one.
- She trains with intention, treating her physical health not as a side effect of training, but as a responsibility.
- She teaches women how to protect themselves and stand strong in their bodies—literally and figuratively—through our women’s self-defense classes in La Quinta.
- She leads with emotional maturity, supporting others and meeting them where they are.
- She lives her values daily—with discipline, compassion, and a clear moral compass.
And perhaps most importantly, Aymee approaches every challenge with a rare blend of humility and open-mindedness. She consistently seeks feedback, remains curious in her learning, and gives credit where it’s due. That mindset makes her not only a top-tier athlete, but a respected and trusted leader within our La Quinta academy.
As the Director of our Women’s Jiu Jitsu Program in La Quinta, Aymee has built something extraordinary—a space where women feel not only safe, but truly seen. Under her leadership, the program has grown rapidly—but more importantly, so have the women in it. They’re more confident, more connected, and more empowered than ever before.
That’s not just a win for our academy—it’s a win for the La Quinta community.
And a win for the community is a win for the world.
Because every time someone like Aymee steps up to lead, empower others, and live her values with purpose, it creates a ripple effect—strengthening families, building resilience, and spreading mutual respect throughout La Quinta and the greater Coachella Valley.
At its best, martial arts doesn’t just build fighters—it builds leaders. It builds people who pour their energy back into others. It creates mutual prosperity—the idea that when one person grows, we all grow.
Aymee’s promotion is a reminder that rank means more when it’s rooted in purpose. This brown belt is not just a reflection of her skill, but of her service, humility, and impact.
We couldn’t be more proud of her.
